The Pakistan hockey team is scheduled to leave for the South African Nations Cup by November 22, but the Pakistan Hockey Federation is facing a severe shortage of funds and sponsors.
Due to paucity of funds with the PHF, the players are awaiting assistance for the tour of South Africa.
The Pakistan Hockey Team may face sanctions and fines if they do not participate in the Nations Cup.
Non-participation in the event may result in a fine of 15,000 euros and a ban from participating in the Pro League.
Non-participation in the Nations Cup will also close the doors for the national hockey team to qualify for the Olympics.
PHF has written letters to Pakistan Sports Board, Ministry of Inter-Provincial Co-ordination and Prime Minister to participate in the Nations Cup. In which PHF has sought help of Rs 3 crore.
The FIH Nations Cup will be played in South Africa from November 28 to December 4. It should be noted that the Pakistan Hockey Team also participated in the Azlan Shah Hockey Cup with the help of a private sponsor. The national team won the bronze medal in the event.
